Jayne Design Studio

We are delighted to share our latest project has been featured in the July 2026 issue of The World of Interiors.

Set within a residence at Manhattan’s iconic Carlyle Hotel, the apartment reflects a decades-long collaboration with a longtime client, bringing together an extraordinary collection of art, antiques, and personal treasures. Layered with historical references, unexpected juxtapositions, and richly detailed interiors, the home celebrates the deeply personal approach to decoration that has long defined the studio’s work.

Our sincere thanks to The World of Interiors – editor Emily Tobin, sitting editor Hamish Bowles, and writer Mitchell Owens – our longstanding friend and collaborator who shepherded this story into being.

The digital version of the story may be read here.

We are deeply honored to once again be recognized by ELLE Decor – and this year, the recognition is especially meaningful.

It turns out 13 is a lucky number. After 13 consecutive years on the ELLE Decor A-List, Jayne Design Studio has been named to the publication’s A-List Legends, an honor reserved for designers whose work has made a lasting contribution to the field.

We are incredibly grateful to the ELLE Decor team for this distinction, and to our clients, collaborators, artisans, and friends whose trust and partnership have made this milestone possible. It is a privilege to be recognized alongside so many designers and decorators we have long admired, and many of whom we call friends.

The 2025 ELLE Decor A-List features Jayne Design Studio. We are grateful to be included again this year, and our gratitude goes to Stellene Volandes, Bebe Howorth, Ingrid Abramovitch, and everyone on the team who we’ve loved working with over the years.

The Summer issue is on stands now, and you may visit Elle Decor’s site to read their digital coverage of the A-List, which includes many of our industry peers, whose work we are constantly inspired by. Thank you to everyone in our office and our wonderful clients, without whom we would not be recognized.

Thomas is honored to serve as guest editor of the January/February issue of The Magazine ANTIQUES while his dear friend and editor of this magazine, Mitch Owens, recovers. It is both a pleasure and a privilege to collaborate with a publication Thomas has cherished and been closely connected with for many years.

The release of this issue coincides with The Winter Show, New York City’s premier art, antiques, and design fair, renowned for showcasing some of the world’s leading experts in fine and decorative arts. It’s been held at the Park Avenue Armory for over 70 years and benefits the East Side Settlement House.

Thank you to the ELLE Decor team for listing our firm as one of the industry’s top designer talent.

We’re honored to share our historic Charleston project, the Branford-Horry House, featured in the Jan/Feb issue of Veranda. For this special home we were comissioned to take the Georgian-style home, originally built in the 1700s, into a new era for our longtime client Sarah Rose Johnson and her family. William says, “Sarah wanted a happy, relaxed house, where every room is used. Plus there was his client’s stipulation: no ornate chandeliers.” Thomas adds, “I remember decorating Sarah’s childhood bedroom with orange geraniums on white chintz. She shares our firm’s reverence for history, yet we both also believe that tradition is now, that traditional aspects can be brought forward in a contemporary way.” While it still retains its grandeur and classical features, no room is off limits, and wholeheartedly welcomes the family, guests and the family’s Australian Shepherd, Bear.

Thank you to the whole Veranda team for this wonderful story. You may read the story and see inside the home here. Our senior designer William Cullum also walks readers through the home’s Cypress Room on Veranda’s Instagram here.

The Palladio Awards honor outstanding achievement in traditional design and we’re so thrilled to see this special project recognized. Thomas and William worked in collaboration with architect Gil Schafer of Schafer Buccellato Architects to design this country house as a second home for clients who spent many years living abroad and collecting English furnishings. We designed the interiors to be classic, colorful and comfortable, echoing elements of formality that great British estates posses, balanced with a sense of American hospitality.

Thank you to Tony Freund for featuring our new Philadelphia high rise project. Working with our longtime client and their wonderful collection of antiques and furnishings we designed for their former home, it was a joy to give them new life in a contemporary setting. One of the home’s most special elements are the wall panels done by our longtime collaborator, decorative painter Pierre Finkelstein. Meant to give the impression of sheer draperies, they have a trompe l’oeil effect that, as the writer David A. Keeps writes,  brings an unexpected sense of “old-world delicacy to the living area’s walls”.

We’re thankful to our clients for letting us share their spaces with the world and remain ever grateful to the ELLE Decor team for this privilege. See the full list on ED’s site here.

We’re honored to see our Houston project in Galerie’s fall issue. Thomas and Egan Seward worked on this Greek Revival/Texas Territorial Style home, carefully updating it with modern touches to embody a traditional home of today. The home features many special pieces of art from our client’s impressive collection and incorporates their aviary affinity. Fittingly, Egan designed a painted-steel grillwork for the windows and doors with the advice of John Tacket, inspired by the James McNeill Whistler’s Peacock Room at the Freer Gallery of Art. It is a highlight of the home.

You may read the full story on Galerie’s site here. Many thanks to Galerie Editor in Chief and friend Jacqueline Terrebonne, as well as Stephen Wallis, who wrote the piece. Photography was taken by Pär Bengtsson, with styling by Michelle Aviña.
